Jazz (Pop vocals)
IRENE ATMAN
Irene Atman is a fast rising star on the jazz scene. She's appeared on the same bill as Tony Bennett, played with the Stan Hiltz orchestra, recorded with The Boss Brass, and has performed with some of the greats including Mel Torme, Peter Appleyard, Guido Basso and Luciano Pavarotti to name a few.
Born in Toronto, Irene is an accomplished pianist and seasoned jazz singer. Her greatest influences and inspiration came from her father's fruit cellar where her father would play music by Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra and Doris Day for her, as a child.
The release of Irene's self-titled debut CD in Canada, Australia and Japan was welcomed and received rave reviews from around the world, launching her into the arena of global airplay and recognition. The songs chosen from the album are all favorites from the Great American Songbook and easily puts Irene's jazz vocals into the pop mainstream market.

RON DAVIS
Ron Davis is a pianist in the great virtuoso tradition. His music is rooted in the swing and post-bop idioms. Active and popular on the jazz scene, Ron has played across the world and has has two albums chart at #1.
In Canada, Ron's home base, he is known as both a dazzling musician, and an entertaining performer. Ron studied music in his teens with the late Darwyn Aitken, a pupil of classical great David Saperton and jazz legend Oscar Peterson. Ron also studied at the Royal Conservatory of Music.
He still considers Peterson, along with Art Tatum and Glenn Gould as the greatest influences on his piano playing. His classical background produced his love to play Bach and Brahms. But he decided early in his career that he didn't have the hands to be a classical pianist and therefore chose to go with the jazz genre.
Ron has had other lives: as a lawyer, and as an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto, where he earned a PhD in French linguistics. Ron's community work includes serving on the Executive of the Glenn Gould Foundation. He is involved in many charities, including Peacebuilders International, and Feed the Hungry, and as co-Producer of Jazz for Herbie, an annual benefit the Sick Kids Hospital Foundation, helping for children in medical need.

Contemporary Jazz Vocalist
DANIELA NARDI
Daniela Nardi has drawn comparisons to Sting, Annie Lennox and Joni Mitchell but the only word for her eclectic sound is "earthymodernjazzpopcool," while subtly effective touches of electronica also infuse these new songs.
"I've always loved electronica and groups like Massive Attack or Moby," she explains. "Here, I used some of those elements to blend with the acoustic, adding little colours and using the electronica as a modern-day percussion. I wanted to take listeners to a new place with this record yet creating a bridge between the old and the new."
The Rose Tattoo is a journey of passion, finesse, intensity, and artistry, an album that will etch itself upon both head and heart. It's Daniela Nardi 2009: as great as before, better than ever, with so much more to come.

LORI NUIC
Everybody knows that Canada is a hotbed for some of the world's greatest female artists (Celine Dion, Anne Murray, Diana Krall, Sarah MacLachlan, Shania Twain, K.D. Lang, Nelly Furtado, Avril Lavigne, and many more). Along comes Lori Nuic, ready to join in the ranks of the great Canadian Female vocalists.
As a graduate of the prestigious Randolph Academy for the Performing Arts, Nuic was being courted by the theater set, but in her heart, it was strictly about the music. She received many accolades and awards for such a young singer, including winning at "The Honey Jam", the annual proving ground showcase in Toronto where Nelly Furtado was famously discovered. She also won the "Rhythm of the Future Talent Search" as well as a clean sweep of the "Urban Star Quest" national title at Canadian Music Week.
She's worked with some of the finest people in the Canadian industry, initially as a back-up vocalist to Canadian Idol finalists Toya Alexis and Gary Beals, then she appeared on other recordings by Toya as well as Carlos Morgan. She was also invited to perform at some prestigious awards galas and has played alongside major label recording artists such as Simply Red.
It's hard to pigeonhole her music - she knows how to reel someone in and keep them listening. As one music critic puts it "Her album is a bright, energetic fusion of pop, soul, funk and R&B ... with good looks, attention-grabbing voice and songwriting talent to burn, Lori Nuic is on her way. Look out Nelly!"

JEFFERY STRAKER
Singer-songwriter-pianist Jeffery Straker grew up listening to classical and pop music while nursing an addiction to his classical piano studies. He practiced for hours every day. This wouldn’t be abnormal except he grew up in a small farming community in rural Saskatchewan (population 250) where the norms were country music and ice hockey. He trended a little against the grain and got a kick out of doing things a bit differently.
And so continues this pattern with his latest album “Step Right Up”. Blending cabaret nuances into his pop tendencies, the result is a Chamber-Pop release that shines a light on his distinct tenor voice and nimble fingers. Songs from the album have risen to the top 10 on Much More Music Canada, and have seen him perform over 100 shows in 2009.
Having performed over 200 shows in 2 years he created some good momentum for his music with tour stops including Canada, China, Ireland, and Panama (touring there with the Canadian Embassy). He also performed in New York City with a nomination for ‘Recording of the Year’ at the Outmusic awards. And then once again wanting to experiment, he started infusing cabaret into his sound. He’s opened for Brit Superstar Mel C and has received nods for his songwriting as a national finalist in the Canadian Radiostar Songwriting Competition as well as a top 20 finalist in the global Unisong Competition.
With success in Asia to follow, Jeffery is on his way to becoming a household name on both sides of the world.

UXL
Young British rock band UXL from Birmingham and Wolverhampton are made up of the three Tierney brothers (John, PJ and Paul) and friend Dan Clark, have become one of the most talked about new bands around. Their music is a combination of energy and melody that draws on the varied musical influences of Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and U2. UXL are essentially a melodic rock band with an epic sound but they can also do controlled minimalistic, pop-rock, semi-acoustic and just about everything in between.
Their debut album "Can I Dream Again" has attracted some great reviews and they have started to gain attention in North America as well as Europe with their recent appearance at the Canadian Music Week and widespread radio airplay resulting in a top 5 chart position in the US radio charts for the track "Make It".
Remarkably, half of the foursome are still only teenagers, yet they have accomplished many things int heir time together as a band. They have played at festivals across the US, recorded an acoustic session at the BBC studios, and met Metallica's sound engineer, the legendary big Mick Hughes, who described UXL's frontman John Tierney as having "one of the most powerful voices he has ever heard."
UXL have previously supported Wishbone Ash and Magnum. They are to perform at the Atlantis Music Festival and Conference in Atlanta in 2008 and are proud to have been invited once again by Magnum to support them on their European leg of their Wings of Heaven tour 2008, which will incorporate dates across Switzerland, Germany and the Czech Republic.
